About the artist

Fascinated by forms manipulation since he was a kid, he was playing with mud obtaining small forms at the age of 6; during the very hot and quiet apulian afternoons, at the age of 8 he gets many clues and starts himself smelting down lead with an iron soldering, to shape up rings and simple object with. He went “a bottega” during the summer school holidays since he was 11, to learn goldsmithing skills from a master, where at the age of 16 he was invited by the master to occupy full-time the workstation. Few years refining technics and methods, he decided to move on with the prototyping and modeling world, developing patterns for the fashion industry, accessories like buckles, buttons, customized metal shoe parts for better known brands. At the age of 24 he had the opportunity to find a local workshop who had the centrifugal lost wax method. Here his skills were very soon noticeable. So he decided to start to work for an artistic foundry and then he thought: “… shall I start it in London, perhaps I’ll learn the language…?” LOL! And he managed to do it so! Many thanks to Fiorini Foundry London, who has made this happen. He’s self-taught foundry man through a book written by the artist Francesco Lucidi. Many sabbatical years he’s been through but he had never stopped producing commissions and making fine arts, researching and improving knowledge with different materials like clay, wood, plaster, synthetic materials. He has developed great confidence towards all the non-ferrous metals, but later on he acquired skills on some other metals like mild and stainless steel, cast iron, surfaces treatment, restauration, conservation. Over the years many commissions have been made, you’ll find some of this in OTHER; unfortunately some other pieces have never been documented. At present he continues with his artistic career between Lecce (Salento) and London with his “r.lab” concept, hub who gathers all the jewelry, and #nomad_workshop project that relates all the objects made in third party workshops, partnerships.
